Norfolk Wedding Photography ~ Norfolk Botanical Gardens ~ Leala and Brian
Posted on July 26, 2010
Leala and Brian were married on a beautiful spring day at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. They chose the Renaissance Court for their ceremony and I can’t begin to tell you how beautiful the light was that April day, you’ll see it in the pictures. My trusty second shooter for this wedding was John Cachero. John and I talked about was how many little moments there were throughout the day, it was wonderful to be able to capture them. I have to say that one of the great aspects of having your ceremony and reception at the same location is the extra time given for pictures. We had so much fun working our way towards the reception shooting at different places we had scouted out ahead of time. Here are some of my favorites of the day.

John and I both had so much fun celebrating with ya’ll. I hope you enjoy your photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
Best wishes,
Becca
Fort Monroe Wedding Photographer ~ Sylina and Terrell
Posted on March 15, 2010
Sylina and Terrell were married at the beautiful Chapel of the Centurion on Fort Monroe in Hampton the first weekend in March. It was a pretty day, the sun was shining, but still chilly, and rather windy on the water. I had a last minute assistant at this wedding in Kristi Schneider to make a long story short, I have a torn muscle in my shoulder, obviously it didn’t stop me from shooting this wedding the way I shoot every wedding, but I had a few painful moments, I pulled through though and having a friend/second shooter with me gave me a peace of mind. Here are some of my favorites from the day, you can find them full size here, this is also where all the photos will be when they are finished. I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed shooting them.

Williamsburg, VA Wedding Photographer ~ Kristen and Jeremy Married!
Posted on February 9, 2010
Kristen told me she always wanted to have snow on her wedding. Wish granted my dear! It snowed buckets that night. When Kristen, Jeremy, and I met originally I asked them what the theme would be for their wedding and she said “winter woodland” they nailed it. The room was GORGEOUS! Kristen and Jeremy are both teachers, they both have the most warm/welcoming smiles, I would have loved to have a teacher with that kind of sincere smile. The love radiated between the two of them, it was an awesome wedding, and I had so much fun shooting it. I will tell you that you will be seeing these two again (sooner rather than later), due to flooding in the area Kristen and Jeremy were forced to move their ceremony from the Historic Church at Jamestown to the Williamsburg Community Building, where their reception was held. Their caterer pulled it off flawlessly and everything turn out beautiful. We all were looking forward to the pictures in and around that glorious old church, so when it warms up a bit and finally stops dumping snow, Kristen and Jeremy will get all dressed up again and we will have a blast doing a “day after” shoot, something for ya’ll to all look forward to. Along for the day with me was my friend John Cachero, we had talked about working together for some time and this hopefully the first of many, please visit his blog to check out his pictures from this wedding.
There were lots of great details at this wedding and you will see them throughout the post… enjoy!

Kristen ended up getting a new dress a week before the wedding, here is her beautiful choice.

This picture just makes me smile, Kristen has amazing parents, Cindy and Richard, her bridesmaids where her cousin Tricia, her sister in law Louisa, also in this shot is the adorable Andi… you will see her again soon.

What a great spot for a ceremony

The happy couple

The flowers at this wedding were the kind that make you stop and take a second look, stunning absolutely stunning.

The new Mr and Mrs Stacy

Sweet!

A little off camera lighting to give this shot a more dramatic look

Kristen and Jeremy had the unique idea of using christmas ornaments for their guest book, pretty cool huh?

A more traditional ring shot

My most favorite ring shot, this was taken using the floor to balance the camera, this was shot at f/3.5, ISO 400, 1/8 of a second exposure.

Mommy, I’m ready to go now….

This beautiful cake tasted even better than it looked, and since it looked amazing… well, that says it all.

Kristen and Jeremy had a s’mores station, rock on!

Here is John doing his thing.

A little texture to mix things up, Kristen had the cutest facial expressions

Kristen’s brother Rich gave a toast that didn’t leave a dry eye in the house, seriously even I had to wipe away a few tears.

The reaction

Kristen and Rich’s dad during the toast

It didn’t take long for the night to turn right back to fun dancing

Andi and her mommy Louisa dancing, I love this picture, it just speaks volumes about the mother and daughter relationship, it warms my heart

Enjoying the festivities

Jeremy showing off his moves

Cutting that yummy cake

Rich and Louisa

They exited by coming through a big line of sparklers, it was pretty neat.

And here they are!

Kristen and Jeremy,
John and I both had so much fun, I look forward to seeing ya’ll soon!
Congrats,
Becca
Virginia Beach, VA Wedding Photographer ~ Grand Affairs ~ Cherish and Jeff
Posted on December 18, 2009
Cherish and Jeff were married at Grand Affairs in Virginia Beach on Saturday, Dec. 12th, in a beautifully sweet ceremony, their close friends and family surrounding them. I have to say Cherish is my most organized bride to date, I loved it. Another thing I loved was the way that Cherish and Jeff welcomed me with open arms, the relationships I build with my clients is the biggest perk of being a wedding photographer. Here are some of my favorites of Cherish and Jeff’s Christmas themed wedding. Oh, and on a side note, Special thanks to Robbie Hickman for coming out and shooting with me, as always it was a pleasure working with you. I have added the full size photos of each of the pictures in this post to Cherish and Jeff’s gallery, if you are interested in purchasing them you can click here. The complete set of their wedding photos will be available in Jan.
Cherish’s mom, Donna, is an event planner, her business is Foy Enterprises. Donna and Cherish did all this themselves, it was beautiful!

Love this dress, it was perfect for a winter wedding.

Rings and a Christmas tree…. perfect

I was so excited when I walked into the room, everything Cherish has told me about was there, and even more grand (no pun intended)

This garter is so Jeff, I have a feeling he was surprised

The ring belonged to her dad, she wore it down the aisle

Don’t the red dresses rock!

Too cute!

I love when a toast gets this kind of reaction

I also love watching other people while the toasts are going on, this is the brides sister Tammy

Tammy and her fiance Brandon are getting married in April…. guess who is going to be photographing their wedding

Cake!

So there is a funny story that goes along with this collage, if you were there you may in fact be laughing right now.

Tammy and Brandon again, they are just so sweet together I had to get one more

I do believe this was during the Cupid Shuffle, I also do believe I may have been out there going to the left, to the left… just a warning to my future clients I will probably dance a little at your wedding, mainly because I can’t help myself.

I would call this the garter toss, but it very much so aimed

During the reception Cherish came over and asked if I wanted to head to Town Center with them for a few minutes to get a few shots in front of the great big Christmas tree, of course I said yes… then jumped and down with joy after I walked away and no one could see me. I loved getting a few extra minutes of couples time with Cherish and Jeff… and I loved this tree.

And a goodbye kiss

Cherish and Jeff,
I had so much fun with ya’ll. I wish you the best in your marriage and look forward to seeing you in April (or June)
Fondly,
Becca
Portsmouth Virginia Wedding Photographer ~ Grand Affairs Chesapeake ~ Wes and Jolenda Married
Posted on November 14, 2009
Wes and Jolenda were married on the 24th of Oct. at the lovely St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Portsmouth, VA. They were surrounded by friends and family. After a short break between pictures at the church we headed off to Grand Affairs in Chesapeake for some more pictures and then a great reception. I can’t begin to express how much I appreciated all the time I had to take pictures with this couple and their awesome bridal party, we ended up with some great images.
Wes and Jolenda are the first couple to have booked me from my first ever bridal show. I don’t think I’ll ever forget when Jolenda asked me if I was available for Oct. 24th, and all I could say, “of this year?” As you can see it all worked out. I had a great time with ya’ll and I wish you the best of luck. I hope you enjoy some of my favorites.
As always, I’ll start off with some details… but for those of you that enjoy my ring shots… you’ll have to wait ;o)

Make-up for the girls was done by a friend, she did a fabulous job. Glenda (aka Grandmom) walking to the church with the flower girls, and the beautiful St. Paul’s church.

I mean really, could it be any prettier?

With a first kiss like this you know the portrait session is gonna be fun!

Okay, I’ve held out long enough, the bling, oh, I mean rings

I love it when the bridal party plays along with my strange suggestions

Okay, so when I looked at these two shots the first thing that went through my mind was, man, they are gonna have some pretty babies. Don’t you agree?!?

I love the snuggle, it’s sweet everytime I see it

So while I was writing out my little cheat sheet for putting captions on photos I entitled this set, “looking down, looking up” pretty much says it all

Beautiful bride

So the sky decided to be dramatic for us when it came time for these, Thanks God for giving me a beautiful sky to photograph

My 2nd shooter Robbie said to Wes, whisper something naughty in her ear… so here you have the whisper and the reaction

First dance. I did a little cross process on the top image, I like the washed out color look, but since I know not everyone will, I made sure to give you a normal one too. Also do you see the Grand Affairs staff in the upper left corner, I think they enjoyed the dance as well.

Wes’ parents flew in from Hawaii to share this day with their son and new daughter-in-law. Isn’t that cool.

Joe had Jolenda smiling and laughing their whole dance.

Joe gave the best father of the bride speech ever.

And this is the reaction to said speech.

Yummy cake, it had raspberry filling

I really don’t think this one needs an explanation, but it felt weird not to type right here

I love that you can see they threw their respective tossing items the exact same.

Jolenda’s grandparent came from Guam, which is farther, Guam or Hawaii? I really have no clue and that’s sad.

Glenda getting her groove on.

I would usually end a wedding post with the bride and groom; however; Joe and Glenda were celebrating an anniversary so I will give them honors of last picture, I hope ya’ll had a nice anniversary.

Wes and Jolenda-
I had such a fantastic time working with ya’ll. Thanks for letting me share in your day. I can’t wait till I get a phone call saying your ready for a maternity shoot (eventually).
Best wishes,
Becca
